But I also love to make couture wedding dresses and other high fashion garments. It’s a passion for me. I just finished a wedding dress with 1200 hand-sewn appliqués. A project like that gives me plenty of time to think. It’s a great way to turn off the job. And I like having a hobby that’s totally opposite of what you would expect of a police captain.

I’ve been with the LAXPD for 25 years and the excitement never ends. One day you’re ensuring the safety of the Pope and the next you could be herding cows loose on the tarmac.

In my position as Captain of Homeland Security, my primary focus is to ensure the safety and security of people and property at LAX. Working at the airport gives me a sense of purpose. I’m doing my very best because I don’t know when my family may be on that plane.

The airport is a fantastic and wonderful environment to work in. You see people from all over the world. And this is a community where people welcome police officers. You are wanted in this community, not despised or questioned.
