Being a police officer was something I’d always considered as a possibility. Then one day a friend’s mother who worked for the city’s personnel department handed me an application and said, "Don’t ask questions, just fill it out, and don’t be late!" Twelve years later, she’s still reminding me that I have her to thank for my career here at the LAXPD.
I’m now Sergeant of Force Instructional Detail. One of the best parts of my job is having the flexibility to be creative in coming up with qualification courses.
When I first started here, I was impressed with the uniqueness that the airport environment offers. Back then, I thought the LAXPD was the best-kept secret in the city–a good job that few people knew about. I think that’s changing as people have become aware of a police presence at LAX. Hopefully, many more people will discover what a great job this really is. |
