And I’m also a dog lover. Or maybe you’d call me a dog collector since I have five: two pit bull mixes, a terrier mix, a border collie mix, and a lab mix. Sometimes I feel like a sheep herder, trying to wrangle all my dogs. They are definitely the boss of me.

I’ve loved animals all my life and was on the path to becoming a veterinarian, but 9/11 changed all that. I really felt compelled to help fight terrorism, so two years ago I signed on with the LAXPD.

Each day, I direct travelers to their destinations and provide a uniformed presence that deters crime, ensuring that LAX is a safer place to travel. It’s a great feeling to be able to help so many people in one day and to know that I’m proactively suppressing terrorism just by being there.

The great thing about LAXPD is that there are so many different units and so much potential for advancement. I know that I can keep climbing the ladder and do anything I want. I’m not going to be in one place forever.
