I've been with the LAXPD for three and a half years, and I work as a recruiting officer. It's my job to give presentations at colleges and schools around the area, as well as conduct testing for candidates coming in. I also like to work patrol at least once in a while just to keep my skills sharp.

One of the best things about the job for me is wearing the uniform. I like knowing that I'm helping people…that I have a job with a purpose.

I've developed quite a bond with my co-workers. I think it's good that we have a diverse, multicultural department that reflects the public that comes through the airport.

The great thing about this department is how it's growing. We're hiring about 80 people right now and offering plenty of opportunity for advancement. Jobs are opening in specialized units and officers are being promoted to sergeant and above.
