I joined the LAXPD 10 years ago, and I now work as the department’s first Public Information Officer, doing everything from press releases to on-camera interviews. It’s a pleasure to be able to help give people insight about the police and what we do.

When I first started working here, it felt like a dream I had that I’d finally fulfilled. It’s all about serving the public and if you can do that, you’ll do well here.

As a woman on the police force, at first you feel like you have something to prove…to show you’re worthy. After awhile, you feel more confident and sure of yourself. Women may have an advantage here because there aren’t a lot of us, and females are needed in many specialized departments.

Overall, one of the best things about this job is the variety involved. Every day is different.
