LAXPD offers competitive salaries at all levels of service, along with regular raises and opportunities for promotion. You may also earn bonuses or raises based on length of service or special assignments. All officers receive a yearly uniform allowance.
BASE SALARY: The starting base salary for is $60,009.
You begin earning your full salary on your first day of academy training.
RAISES: Upon completion of 6 months of your probationary period you will get an automatic salary step increase. After 12 more months you will receive another raise. You will then be eligible for additional raises, advancement, and promotions.
LENGTH OF SERVICE PAY: Upon completion of 10 years of aggregate service as a sworn employee of the airport department, an officer will receive an amount equal to 2.75% above the maximum biweekly rate and an additional 2.75% upon completion of 15 years of aggregate service.
FIELD TRAINING OFFICERS: In addition to their salary and other bonuses, field training officers will receive a bonus equal to 5.5% of his/her biweekly salary.
CANINE HANDLERS: Full-time canine handlers or canine training officers will receive an additional 5.5% of compensation above his/her corresponding step of the salary range.
DETECTIVE UNIT: Officers assigned to the detective unit will receive an additional 5.5% of compensation above his/her corresponding salary range.
MOTORCYCLE UNIT: Officers assigned to the motorcycle unit will receive an additional 5.5% of compensation above his/her corresponding salary range.
SHOOTING RANGE: Officers assigned to the work in shooting range will receive an additional 5.5% of compensation above his/her corresponding salary range.
UNIFORM ALLOWANCE: A uniform allowance of $1025 will be provided to airport police officers annually for replacement, maintenance, and other expenses.
