Individuals in possession of a California Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Basic Certificate, and have successfully completed the probationary period for a California police agency, may be selectively certified (considered for hire prior to other candidates due to their advance training).

Lateral Candidates are still required to pass all steps in the selection process.
