We offer a variety of positions ranging from patrol officer to dignitary protection. 1 | PATROL SERVICES: All new LAXPD officers start in the Patrol Services Section. These officers are primarily responsible for providing LAX with basic law enforcement services. Patrol officers respond to calls for police service, conduct preliminary investigations of crimes and offenses, make arrests, support airline security programs and the passenger screening function, enforce airport rules and regulations, and assist with traffic and crowd control. While many officers choose to remain in patrol, others apply for promotions or for transfer to specialized divisions after a few years in the field.
2 | SPECIALIZED ASSIGNMENTS: Once officers have completed their probationary period, they’re eligible to apply for specialized divisions. Most of these positions require special training, and officers who are selected are paid to be trained. There are a variety of specialized divisions in the LAXPD, including:
